My zebra finches are having a good summer and i have some sweet little babies who will be needing homes soon.

If anyone is interested let me know - i will be at several of the big shows remaining this season so can deliver to those.

Just a heads up for everyone who has access to a TK Maxx.
I popped in with the family this afternoon to buy a new coat for work and they had a dozen ladies Barbour wax jackets (various sizes)
After initially saying i couldnt afford one (i'm supposed to be saving for future business plan) my will power gave out and i just had to have one.

They RRP at £219 but i got mine for just £70!!

I know TK Maxx often get the same stock in different stores (we have 4 by us and all tend to have same stuff at same time) so it may be worth popping in quickly if you pass any.

If i could have guaranteed they'd sell i would have bought the lot to sell on - even if i marked them up from shop price the buyer would still be getting a bargain!

I've got the gear so all i need to do now is finally get around to calling the gundog trainer, lol!

They've got turn up and have a go activities for the dogs. Thought it looked like fun as well as the usual game fair displays.

Scurries, Pick up, Scramble, Dog and Gun, BASC events.

This weekend we are going to the Munsterlander show (I can't for the life of me remember the name of the show, or how to spell it, so I won't attempt it to avoid embarrassment!) in Borken, Germany.

I am so excited and I am really looking forward to their different approach to showing and how they show their dogs. Also I will be interested to see if munsterlanders change in type from country to country.

But yes, i'm very excited.

Alterations as of 09.06.09

Removed banner from top of page (which has fixed registration in certain browsers and some pages accidently going back to the homepage). I'd expect this would have been causing problems for certain users (it made the site entirely unusable on Safari, for example).

Removed stats counter from page. Was in there twice (once as a 'banner' and once in the forum description, both changes made in admin panel not in code). Both would have been causing slight browser issues.

Moved terms of service (header.tpl)

Restyled (css.tpl) the following elements:
* Header (added new image)
* Search
* Description (slightly smaller, removed undue padding)
* Font size of Mark Forum Read/RSS links
* Left margin on forum row description
* Currently online count

Changed default font (settings.tpl)

Changed default markup on new_count.php (new post count module), and styling: css.tpl

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coming soon - Banner image will alternate between three different themes (showing, working, agility) each time page is changed. The 'showing' one is currently being displayed but dont fear those who arent into showing other banners will be along shortly!

Munsterlander gone missing. (5 replies)

I have had some sad new from one of my puppy owners, her older dog Lewis went missing on Thursday afternoon.
Having building work done at their home they had temporary gates in place but they believe Lewis managed to get through but more upsetting is that they said Lewis was unwell and think he may have gone away to be on his own.

Gwen lives in Crowborough backing onto Ashdown Forrest. The police have been very helpful but with no joy.

Please, if in the area look out for Lewis. Photo attached. He is 9 years old.

Hi Guys

Well, after a week relaxing in the lakes, I decided to do some much needed maintenance on the forum. As per usual, for me, it is a bigger job than I expected!

There are updates available for video/photo uploading, logging on, searching and appearance etc and I am trying to load them up and activate them.

As a result, some may experience difficulties doing any of the above things. I am hopeful (is that praying?) that I will have it sorted in the next hour or so.

If anyone experiences any difficulty uploading video/photos, accessing the site, searching topics or sees strange things appearing on their profile, let me know by emailing me direct at

Swapcycle Scotland
Anybody heard of this Yahoo group? Basically, it sounds a great idea as you can swap anything you have for anything anyone else has - only criteria is that they have similar values. It seemed a good additional resource to freecycle for keeping stuff out of landfill sites. I joined the group on that premise. However, the moderator has just replied to my question asking if they allow swapping animals since there was an email from a member to swap a puppy. He said they are happy to allow swapping of any live animal of similar values so I have left this group on a matter of principle. Just a heads up for any similar group any of you might want to join.

My parents have gone out today and traded our 13 year old vauxhall astra (our families 'spare' car) for a brand new nippy little Fiat Panda. We have been talking about changing the car for about a year now but never got around to it but the new scrappage scheme has given the incentive needed. The new 'city runaround' will be arriving in 6 weeks at which point they will also tow the old car away.

What is everyone thoughts on the scheme and anyone else planning on taking advantage of the discounts?

After being severely miffed with Windows Vista, I finally took the plunge and binned Windows altogether.
I have now installed Ubuntu, a Linux operating system, on my laptop and it is sooooooo much better than Windows!
Not only is it FREE, it also comes bundled with a word processor, spreadsheets, presentation software, email client, photo editor, instant messenger and internet browser (firefox). All are totally free to download, install and use. All the programs readily convert to and from Microsoft products so Microsoft Office documents can still be opened, edited, saved etc. There are lots of free software packages available online too.
The laptop is much quicker and web browsing is a breeze.
Apparently, no-one has managed to crack Ubuntu so there is no need for anti-virus software either!!
Had one issue with getting online though. The system will only allow me to come online via a hard-wired LAN rather than via my wireless router at the moment so currently stuck in the bedroom whilst surfing (no comments please Peter ;))
The newer version of Ubuntu apparently fixes this problem so I am going to install it tomorrow.

Anyone else use anything different than Windows? (I think Wendy uses a Mac?)
Anyone have any difficulty accessing this site, and others, using other operating systems? (I know Sue sometimes struggles with Windows?)

It is our annual queens day and as we were preparing the kids for the party in our town we watched the royal family in Apeldoorn and all of a sudden a car came crashing through the crowds. Seemed no accident. 13 seriously injured..............I am so out of sorts no.. The party in APeldoorn has stopped but what do we do? This is hands down the most celebrated day in our country so weird...

A few of the forums I am a member of have had a virus sent around to the members.

Basically, the members get a PM (personal message) and it includes a link to a website virus.

The spammers have tried to attack this forum, but were stopped by the system we use ( a main reason we changed to this format from the old one).

If you do get a PM (personal message) from a member you have not heard of before, please dont open it. Let me know and I will check out if it is a valid message for you.

Please remember, if anyone you do not know sends you a link to a website - treat it with great suspicion!

On a positive note, Sarah has been working hard behind the scenes and is ready to make some visual changes to the forum. Please help her along by giving some feedback either on the forum or privatley.

Could anyone recommend any good walks, days out and/or dog friendly pubs in the Lakes please? We're going for a week in May and can always visit old haunts but it would be nice to explore some new places too!

I put a post in the Out and About section a while ago but I'm not sure how many people check there and I think some people on here know the area quite well so I thought I'd try here instead!

Homing hand reared puppies (1 reply)

A workmates dog recently hand puppies unexpectedly and the bitch rejected them so a vet nurse is hand rearing them. Sadly 5 of the 6 pups died but the remaining one seems to be doing well now.

The workmate has asked at what age can the puppy go to a new home?

I know pups are supposed to stay with mom and litter mates for atleast 7 weeks but in this case the pup has neither mum of siblings so i am not sure what to tell him.

Any ideas?

Forum Announcement - Admin (9 replies)

Just a quickie ;)

Sarah has very kindly agreed to join me on the admin side of the forum and now has 100% access to all forum features and settings etc.

Sarah has many new and exciting ideas for the forum and, a real bonus, actually knows how to impliment them! (:P). Planned changes are a slightly new look (possibly based around the new forum banner she designed) and may be a few changes to certain areas. There will also soon be a Munsterland car sticker avaialable for a very reasonable £1.50 inc postage!

This is great for the forum and just what it needs, some new blood and new ideas. Sarah is very computer/software savvy and any problems you are having with the forum can now be addressed directly to either of us. As I work shifts it should mean that your queries are now answered much more quickly.

I hope you will all join me in welcoming Sarah to the Admin position and thank her for giving up her own valuable time to help us out (tu)

Does anyone else ever have possession battles with their 'Munsters regarding furinture? Me wife and Dutchess battle over the Wife's fravorite chair all the time. Most funny thing is, Dutchess will NOT sit in the chair or have anything to do with it at all IF the wife is not home. The moment the wife walks in the door, Dutchess will literally RUN to the chair and jump in it before the wife has a chance to sit down.

The wife will be sitting in the chair watching tv in the evening, get up to go get a drink, and Dutchess will run from her kennel/bed to jump in chair before wife returns. Last night, wife was out with the gals for about 4-5 hours, Dutchess never once sat in the wife's chair. Litereally, wife walks in the door, Dutchess comes out of her kennel (dont like to shut the door on her...yea I know 8-) ) and runs to jump in wifes chair, wife hasnt even hung up her jacket yet.

Is kinda comical to watch, untill the wife starts the debate as to just who actually is top bi....errr top dog in the house. X(

Anyone else have simlair things happening in their homes?

I am aware that your screen resolution may be different to mine so some images may repeat.

I hope you like it. It is mainly a personal website of mine to show people what me and the girls get up to and how we do in and out of the ring. The current layout is named "frosty morning" after the weather recently.
